Lifestyle, Beauty and Fashion thoughts...

Hi Guys!

I thought that since I am just starting out with my makeup business, I would  go through my favourite bits and pieces for my kit.

I think in the future when I have a full kit built up, I will maybe do a post going through everything in my kit. But, for now, I thought I would talk you through the pieces that I'm loving right now.

First up are these gorgeous products from Charlotte Tilbury.

There is Wonderglow and Filmstar Bronze and Glow-which I have in the shade light to medium.

I'll start off with Wonderglow, which is a light reflecting face primer. I absolutely love this product, I think it really warms up the skin and gives the most beautiful glow from underneath the makeup. I love that it gives a really natural base glow. My favourite kind of makeup look is one where the skin looks super healthy and fresh and this product 100% achieves this. I tend to use a Laura Mercier Primer underneath, then I work this into the skin before putting on foundation. If I want a super glowy/dewy look then I'll also add a little to the foundation.

The Filmstar Bronze and Glow is such a beautiful product, especially if you are scared of the dreaded contour! It gives a really subtle shadow and I find that it applies lightly which means you can build it up really easily and blends well to ensure that it gives a nice shadow. I think the shade is perfect for anyone with light skin because it isn't orange toned(which it shouldn't be because shadows aren't orange), so it actually creates a great shadow without giving you those intense contour lines that are out and about in the world!

The Charlotte Tilbury products are definitely on the pricier side of things, however I genuinely think they are lovely products and worth the money!
Plus the packaging is just beautiful!

Next up are two products by Sara Hill(who, btw, is the director of The Academy of Makeup where I trained).

First of all is the Pink Opal Metallic pigment. This can be used for highlighting the cheekbone, brow bone, inner corner of the eye and cupids bow. And this is a serious highlighter! If you love that intense glow, this ones your gal!
I think it looks particularly nice on a paler skin tone as obviously it has a pinky/iridescent colour to it, but I think it could be beautiful on anyone.
And a little goes a long way!

Another from Sara Hill is the Matte Damon lipstick. I'm not going to lie, I think I have used it on like 90% of my clients so far! It is so beautiful and gives such a beautiful colour to the lips!
It obviously has a matte finish, but it is so comfortable to wear that it doesn't have the usual drying feeling of a matte lipstick.

You should definitely check out Sara's brand, everything is so lovely!

Next is the Laura Mercier Mineral Powders.

I use these to set makeup along with my trusty RCMA no colour powder. This just gives the makeup a gorgeous look, it isn't too matte so the skin still looks really fresh ad doesn't leave it looking powdery at all!  I don't have loads to stay about this product, just that I think it's really lovely and definitely a must have in my kit so far!

Next up is the Urban Decay Chill Spray.

Now, I'm sure you are probably surprised that I have this and not the cult product All nighter spray. But this was recommended by our tutor Lynsey Maxwell at the Academy who uses this in her kit and I've got to say, I really enjoy this.

I'm not going to lie, it has a bit of a weird smell to it, I think due to the different plant based ingredients in it. But it does actually give a lovely cooling sensation, which I think it lovely when someone has been working on your face for nearly an hour!

It sets your makeup, cools you down and hydrates the face at the same time! Can't complain about that!

Last but not least is this little beauty by NYX, the Control Freak brow gel.

This is just a simple product, but I love it! It creates a really great, fluffy brow! This, with just a tiny bit of product to thicken the brows up gives such a great look. I'm definitely one for the more natural look when it comes to your brows, so this really works great to create that look.

So that's it for my favourite pieces in my kit so far!
Together they give a beautiful looking, natural and dewy makeup.

If there is anything else you would like me to talk about or review, please leave a comment and let me know. I would also love to know what you guys love to use-professional makeup artist or if you just love makeup-I would really love to know what you use!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Love,

Hi Guys!

I cannot believe that I am actually writing my June Favourites! This year is flying by so quickly, it's unbelievable! Is this just a thing you have to accept when you get older?! As if it's not bad enough that time seems to be running out anyway, it's doing it at the speed of light!

This was Glasgow on the 1st of June! We have had some amazing weather this month and it has been so good!! I know people from other countries will think it's crazy to be this excited by a little sunshine but if you've ever been to Glasgow, you'll understand.

Anyway, enough babbling and on to the reason we are here!
It's the end of June, so that seems like the perfect time to talk about all the things I was loving this month.

First up is a product that is by means new to the world nor is it, I'm sure new to favourites lists, however it is new to my life and it is the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. Now, this primer has been on the market for so long and it is loved by so many people, but I have always been a bit funny about using Primers and thought that they were a little unnecessary.

However, the more I use them I definitely see a difference in the way my makeup applies and also in the longevity of my makeup. And I am really loving this Laura Mercier one. I know that there are different variations of this primer depending on your skin type, but I thought I would go for the original first to see if I liked it and I do! I don't even know if I would try the oil free one, I have oily skin but I find that the original primer keeps that in check anyway, but the oil free one would probably be the best option if you had really oily skin, I would say mine is more oily/combination. It is on the pricier side as primers go, but I do think you get a really quality product, you can barely feel this on the skin and it does just give you a really good base to apply your makeup. So, I would recommend you give it a try if you have the money to burn.

My next favourite is the Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Sun Kissed.

I really love this bronzer, which is strange for me as I'm usually a Rimmel bronzer kind of gal, but I may have been swayed by this bad boy! I literally haven't picked up my Rimmel bronzer since the day this came in the post. I did do some research on this bronzer and watched/read a lot of reviews and I think the shade "Sun Kissed" was definitely the best choice for paler skin. A lot of the reviews said the other shade which is "Bronzed" would have been too dark for someone with a paler complexion. I really like the formula of this bronzer, it may sound silly but I think that it goes on to your skin so smoothly, I have quite a lot of texture on my skin from old scars and I find that this doesn't go patchy around them at all. And you don't get too much pay-off either, which personally I like in a bronzer because it makes it buildable. Again, if you're like me and you are used to using the Rimmel bronzer, this may seem quite pricey but you are definitely paying for the quality of the product with this. Also the packaging is BEAUTIFUL! Which helps too! So, if you're in the market for a new bronzer, this one is pretty good!

This next favourite is one I have been using for a while, I think I first picked it up in April and I have been using it ever since and I had to repurchase this month and it is the Kiko Extra Sculpt Volume Mascara.

I first saw Kathleen Lights using this-I'm pretty sure it's one of her faves- and when I found out there was a Kiko store nearby I immediately went and purchased it and I haven't looked back since! This mascara is so good! I just love it and I don't know how else to express that. It does exactly what is says, your lashes are so volumized without looking clumpy. The brush is a little big, and I do sometimes end up with some on my lids, which is a little annoying but I can see past that because I love it so much. I don't wear this on my bottom lashes, just because I find the oils in my skin break it down quite easily, so I'll stick another mascara on my bottom lashes. But apart from that, I think it's pretty great, especially for the price!

My next favourite definitely was not a favourite when I first got it , it's the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation, I have mine in the shade Yellow Albaster.

I didn't love this foundation at first because I had done a lot of research on it, had heard rave reviews about it being this great, full coverage foundation and then when I first used it, it was like putting water on my face. And I was really annoyed about it, however after trying out different applicators I have finally found a way to make this a fuller coverage foundation, by using a blending sponge. And since I have been using a sponge to apply it, I have fallen in love with it. Haven't used any of my other foundations, not even my trusty Vichy Dermablend! I'm so glad I love it now because I was so excited to try it after hearing for so long about how good it was and I was so disappointed at first! It now gives me a full coverage but I think it makes my skin look really radiant for a full coverage look, and my skin doesn't feel like it has loads of product on it. I think I will do a separate blog post on it and go in to more detail, but I'm very glad that it made its way into my favourites!

A product I have been really loving this month is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Series Contour Cream Kit, I use the shade "Fair".

I have had this contour kit since Christmas, I received this and the powder contour kit as a present, but I had only tried the cream contour out a couple of times, it scared me a little and I just couldn't be bothered. However, this month I started using the white/pearly shade as a highlighter and I'm obsessed with it! It is so good! So I decided to be brave and try out the cream contour and I am loving it! Now, don't get me wrong I'm not going all Kim K with the contour, it is very subtle-I'm not a fan of the extreme contour look, personally- but I just love the base I get with this and it means I don't have to go in as heavy with the powders because I already have my base shape. I find the easiest way to go about is to use a small buffer brush to put the colour on and then blend it out with a trusty sponge. I know contour is scary, I'm with everyone on that-but I honestly love this now and practice just makes perfect. I think it makes my makeup look a lot more polished.

Moving on from my makeup favourites this month, these are my more random favourites- just things I've found myself drawn to the most this month.

First up is a scent, that I first wore in my first year at university and EVERY time I spray it I am taken straight back in time.

It's Hugo Boss Boss Orange and I just love it. I don't really wear it very often, but I find I've been reaching for it quite a lot this month and I think it's just because it is quite a summery scent, without being a sweet scent, which I usually go for. So it's a nice little change for me and it makes me feel a little nostalgic to being a little first year.

My favourite tv show, without a doubt, for the past while has been Game of Thrones. I am obsessed!

I had tried to watch it ages ago, couldn't get into it, couldn't be bothered giving it my full attention and I gave up. But not this time. I dedicated myself to the cause, binged on the first 2 seasons and I am now about to start Season 4-so no spoilers please! I cannot believe I waited this long to watch it! Although, some parts have inevitably been spoiled because people can't keep their mouths shut! But I am really loving it and I'm having to stop myself from binging because I don't know if I can catch up and then need to wait a year for the next season-I will not cope well with that!

Sidenote- I am completely obsessed with Emilia Clarke(who plays Daenerys Targaryen) I think she is so unbelievably beautiful, clever, funny-
From @emilia_clarke Instagram
I just have the biggest girl crush on her ever!

My Technology favourite for this month, definitely has to be the Peak Brain Training App, which is free to download, and basically every day you do different brain training challenges to help with different aspects of the brain.

It keeps your brain in shape and works different parts of your brain like memory, attention, problem solving, etc. It's just a fun little game that keeps your mind going and it's nice to challenge yourself and see your improvements throughout the month.

Last, but by no means least, is my favourite food/drink item of the month. I say food/drink because it's technically a drink but it is honestly like a dessert .

Photo taken from @starbucksuk Instagram

It's the Starbucks S'mores Chocolate and Marshmallow Frappuccino and OH. MY. GOD. IT'S SO GOOD! It's also probably my weekly calorie intake in like one sip, but I can see past that if you can? It's a chocolatey, marshmallow creamy coffee dream in a cup topped with a graham cracker crumble! I honestly must have had like 4 or 5 of these this month and I know I shouldn't have and I know I moan at myself for eating rubbish but I'm not even sorry about it.

Honestly, go get yourself one of these asap. You can thank/hate me later.
#soznotsoz

And there we have it friends! My June 2016 favourites!
I'm sorry if it was a bit long, but I was just clearly loving life this month and I hope you did too!
If you have any questions about my favourites or if you think that you have favourites that I would also love, please let me know! I would love to try out the things you guys have been loving too!

Wishing all of you wonderful people and amazing July! I hope it's a good one!

Hi guys!
As you can probably tell by the title of this blog post, I'm going to be talking about the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette and one of my favourite looks to create using it.

This week I'm going to do a look using the more matte colours in the palette(there is a teeny tiny bit of glitter when you look at it but they look matte on the eye), and this is pretty much my go-to look at the moment.

For a day-to-day look I've been using the same colours, but usually just toning it down a little bit. I've actually been loving a matte eye, as I usually tend to go for shimmery colours, but recently I've just felt that the matte look appears slightly more polished.

I really love this palette, in fact, it was actually in my February Favourites recently. I haven't used any other eyeshadows since the day I got it in the post. It was love at first sight! I just find that you get a really great payoff and they blend really well.

I have already applied my foundation and my eyebrows, just as I have used my usual Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation on my face, applied with a beauty sponge and on my eyebrows I have Soap and Glory Archery Brow Tint and Pencil(please ignore my extremely overgrown eyebrows, they are deliberately like that-I'm trying to thicken them up a bit so I've not had them threaded in a while so please try to see past it!). Also, please excuse the lighting- I use only natural light at my bedroom window, which(especially in Scotland) can be slightly unpredictable, so the lighting is a bit different in some of the pictures-apologies!

I started off by priming my eyelids with the Zoeva Pearl Eyeshadow Fix and then taking the colour "Bitter Start" all over the eyelid to set the primer just using a bigger shadow brush to take that all over.

Once I have applied my all over base colour, I then take the colour "Substitute for Love"-which is a slightly warm, light brown- on a soft fluffy brush, along the crease of my eyelid and just blend that right in, staying at and above the crease, rather than moving on to the eyelid itself. I'm using this as my transition shade, so I need this to be a bit closer to the brow bone than the rest of the colours that I'm going to use. I like to make sure that is as blended out as possible.

After I have blended this in, I then take "Freshly Toasted"-which is a much warmer, burnt orange/red tone- on the same fluffy brush and blend that along the crease, started from the outer corner and blending in the way. I don't take this colour as far along as the transition shade as I just want to deepen the colour towards the outer corners of the eye, so I probably bring this shade to the center of the crease. Once I have applied the colour and blended it in, I then take another clean fluffy brush and just blend the two colours in even more, I like to do this because I like the colours to flow into each other, rather than being in blocks.

Once I have these two colours on, I then go in with my darkest shade for the look "Beans are White" to smoke the look out a little bit. I take a base shadow brush and just apply this colour to the outer corners of my eyes. Once I've done this, I take me second fluffy brush and just blend this colour in towards the eye and in with the more red toned shadows. I tend to apply this really lightly and build up to the colour that I want, I think this makes the look a lot softer and more wearable. Like I said, I prefer everything to be really blended, I'm not a fan of blocking on colours. At this point I think you can just really play around with intensity of the colour

Once I have the look as dark as I would like, I ass on a little liquid liner. I find that felt tip liners are definitely the easiest to use. I like the Liner Feutre by Bourjois, I find that it easily gives you that thick, dramatic line, without being messy at all. I start from the bottom of the outside corner of my eye and pull the line up as far as I would like it to go. I then start from the end of that line and drag the liner down towards the centre of my eye. I then fill in any gaps and sort out any unevenness.

Please excuse the close up of those ridiculously thick brows!

Once I have my eyeliner done, I leave my eyes for now and move on to finishing my face. I use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer under my eyes, down the centre of my nose and just in the space between the jawline and the bottom of the cheek bone as a sort of mini-contour. I like to let this concealer sit for about 30seconds before I blend it in, I just think it sets a lot better and gives a better coverage. I like to use a blending sponge, usually the same one that I use for my foundation and push the concealer into the skin, just to give that extra coverage.

Once I have the concealer blended in, I set it with my RCMA No Colour Powder and then take my Urban Decay Beached Bronzer all over my face and then concentrate it more in the hollow of my cheeks, just to give a bit more definition to the cheekbones. Then using the Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher in Rode D'Or across the apple of the cheeks and blend that together with my bronzer, just to pull everything together and make sure there are no harsh lines.

After the complexion is finished and all blended together, I go back to the eyes and finish them off. I take the colour "Freshly Toasted" again, which I already used in the crease, on a pencil brush and just blend that along the lower lash line.

Now I just stick on a few coats of Maybelline Lash Sensational on my upper and lower lashes(I do take about 5 minutes to do my mascara) and that is the eye makeup done. I have then added some Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss Nude Collection, mixing the colours 45 and 48 together.

And that is pretty much the look finished. This is what I have been wearing everyday and on most nights out. If I'm wearing it during the day, I usually just go a bit easier on the outer corner of the eye and lighten it up a bit.

I really enjoy wearing this look and I get loads of compliments on my eye makeup when I do wear it, which is always nice! It's a really easy look to wear as it's pretty neutral and goes with everything, which is why I think I love it so much.

Thank you so much for getting to the end if you're reading this! You're the best! If you like this look and you gave it a try please let me know! Also if you have any questions about it, please leave a comment and I will get back to you!

I'm really impressed with the quality of these eyeshadows, especially for the cost of them, They are so blendable and almost creamy, with a really great pay-off. I would really recommend them if you are looking to build up your eyeshadow collections, this would be a great place to start!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything, I promise I will be getting back into it now! I will speak to you all very soon! I hope you have a great weekend!

Love,

Hi guys!

I'm back! I haven't blogged in SO LONG and I've missed it so much!
I don't know what happened, but I got totally out of the swing of it and then couldn't find the time to do anything.
But I missed blogging so much that I don't want to be doing that again!

Anyway, enough with the babbling... I can't believe that it's March already!
This year is flying by so fast! It's crazy!

I have quite a few favourites this month, I've recently been going a bit crazy, buying so much makeup and spending money like I'm a millionaire, but it's totally worth it!

I have linked all of my favourites so you can find them online, just click on the names of each one!

First up this month is probably one of my top favourites. It's the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette.

I loooove this bad boy! It is so beautiful, really well pigmented and the colours are just so lovely!

I haven't used anything else all month, it's just so gorgeous! It's a warm toned palette with a few matte colours along with some stunning shimmers. It just feels so soft and creamy, really blendable. I just can't get enough of it, I'm so impressed with this palette and it is so affordable. It's only £15.50 from beautybay.com which for the quality of the product is actually unbelievable. Honestly I cannot recommend this product enough!

Next up, which actually goes really well with the Cocoa Blend Palette, is the Zoeva Eyeshadow Fix.

I actually bought the Pearl version of this, but I can't seem to find that in stock anywhere. I've never really been in to primers, never really understood the point, I've now obviously changed that view and I really like this product. It stops my shadows from creasing, gives me a much longer wear out of them and I also finds that it brings out the pigment better in comparison to not using a primer.

Again, this is so reasonably priced that I would definitely recommend giving it a try, it only cost me £6! I usually have my makeup on during a working day for about 14 hours and this stuff  doesn't let my eye makeup budge!

Next thing that I have been absolutely loving the RCMA No Colour Powder, which is slowly but surely blowing up big time.

I had never heard of it before and then all of a sudden I'm seeing it everywhere. I first heard about it whilst watching a Kathleen Lights YouTube video and waited a good while for it to come back in stock but it was totally worth the wait! I really love this product, it's no frills, does exactly what it says on the tin kind of makeup and I think that's really the best thing about it  because it's all about the product and the product is pretty damn good! This powder genuinely has no colour, which is great because it means it just sets your makeup without adding anything else to it or without altering the colour.  It also means that any colour of skin tone can use this product, which I think is amazing. It sets my makeup and keeps it in place all day and it sets my under eye concealer perfectly! It's the only powder that I've found so far that minimises the creasing under my eyes. It's also SO reasonably priced! I bought the 3oz bottle and that cost me £8.95 and I can totally deal with that in my life! It's worth 3 times that price in my opinion! If you can get your hands on it, I would totally recommend it!

Next is another extreeeemely reasonably priced product. It's the Makeup Revolution "What are you waiting for?" Salvation Eyeshadow Palette.

I am slowly falling in love with this brand, this palette only cost £4 from Superdrug, and for the price, I think it is really, really good! Obviously it is never going to be as amazing as the higher end eyeshadows because you do pay for a better product.

However, I wouldn't say that these eyeshadows are only worth £4, I think they are really pretty darn snazzy! This is the second palette that I have bought from this range and I have loved them both. There are some really beautiful pinky/Champagne colours that are just so beautiful if you want a change from a smoky eye or are just looking for a fresher makeup look. The shimmer in them is great and I used this a lot at the start of the month and it was just a really nice, subtle eye look that I could create and I loved it. There are also some really dark, plum toned colours which would be fantastic for brown eyes to really bring out their colour. I think this brand is great for anyone but really great for people that perhaps can't afford to spend a lot on makeup. It shows that the high street brands have really stepped up their game and this brand is extremely affordable, I can't wait to try out more! It's keeping my makeup obsession at a reasonably guilt-free level-winning!

My last makeup favourite has only been in my life for about a week, but I am already obsessed with it! It's the L'Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist, which you use after you've put your makeup on to set it.

Now, just like primers, I've always doubted fixing mists and setting sprays because I thought they were just a novelty type product. Boy was I wrong. I am obsessed with this, honestly, I cannot believe it has taken me this long to see the error of my ways! I can't go a day without this now. It sets my makeup so well, without altering the look of it in any way! And it's really been put to the test as I usually work for about 8-10 hours at least a day, running around serving people and I've had my makeup on for maybe 14 hours and its still perfect all those hours later, when usually my foundation has started to wear off. It keeps my oily skin reigned in too! I would say though, that I've learned the hard way, use it BEFORE you put on your mascara if you don't want to look like a panda. I mean, pandas are super cute, but I don't want to look like one! So I do everything but my mascara, then I spray my face all over, leave it to dry in, the put my mascara on and its perfect! Honestly, I can't get enough of it, go buy it now, it's only £7.99!

Moving on from makeup and onto hair. I recently had my hair cut suuuper short(for me anyway)- into long bob(or "lob" if you will), and I have a kind of natural wave to my hair but it needs a little help to look the way I want it to. So I bought the V05 Give Me Texture Salt Spray(which I actually bought from Superdrug but Asda was cheaper), just to see if it would give me the texture I was looking for, and I really like it!

I am a bit wary of salt sprays because I've had a few disasters in my youth with them-but then who doesn't have bad beauty moments ya know?! But I've learned from my mistakes and don't use a whole bottle at a time, it definitely needs to be used sparingly! I just spray it on to my towel dried hair(after my serum), and them let it dry naturally to about 80% dry, then I blast it with my hair dryer to give me a little bit of volume. I now can't go a hair washing day without it, it just gives me the exact look that I want, perfect for shorter hair(maybe long if your hair is in a good condition, it can be very drying).
It also smells reeeallly nice and fresh, which I love because sometimes I use it on my dry hair just after I've curled it to give my hair a more relaxed/beachy look to it and it really freshens my hair up and gives it a nice clean scent, which is always nice!

My last February Favourite has to be the YouTuber Kathleen Lights. I only just discovered her a few months ago and I think she is amazing!

She has actually inspired quite a few purchases over the past couple of months and I love her for it! I just think she seems really lovely, down to earth and I can easily watch four or five of her videos at a time and not get sick of her(which is a true sign of love for me).

I think her sense of of humour is just really similar to my own and we have very similar tastes in makeup so I just enjoy watching her videos, plus she is very honest about things she likes and dislikes so you can trust her which I think is really important. Also, I can't stop looking at her flawless skin!

I just think she is an amazingly beautiful looking woman and I cannot get enough of her videos! So glad I came across her one day! Go subscribe to her if you love makeup!

Well, that's everything that I was really loving throughout February. There were a few other things, but I didn't want to make this list too long, so I just put in the best of a great bunch!
Did you have any of these favourites on your list this month? Please let me know what things you have been loving, I always want to try out new products, YouTubers, tv shows, movies, anything you love!

I'm wishing everyone the best March ever! I hope it is full of all sorts of fun things for you all!

Love,
