Lifestyle, Beauty and Fashion thoughts...

Hi Guys!

I thought that since I am just starting out with my makeup business, I would  go through my favourite bits and pieces for my kit.

I think in the future when I have a full kit built up, I will maybe do a post going through everything in my kit. But, for now, I thought I would talk you through the pieces that I'm loving right now.

First up are these gorgeous products from Charlotte Tilbury.

There is Wonderglow and Filmstar Bronze and Glow-which I have in the shade light to medium.

I'll start off with Wonderglow, which is a light reflecting face primer. I absolutely love this product, I think it really warms up the skin and gives the most beautiful glow from underneath the makeup. I love that it gives a really natural base glow. My favourite kind of makeup look is one where the skin looks super healthy and fresh and this product 100% achieves this. I tend to use a Laura Mercier Primer underneath, then I work this into the skin before putting on foundation. If I want a super glowy/dewy look then I'll also add a little to the foundation.

The Filmstar Bronze and Glow is such a beautiful product, especially if you are scared of the dreaded contour! It gives a really subtle shadow and I find that it applies lightly which means you can build it up really easily and blends well to ensure that it gives a nice shadow. I think the shade is perfect for anyone with light skin because it isn't orange toned(which it shouldn't be because shadows aren't orange), so it actually creates a great shadow without giving you those intense contour lines that are out and about in the world!

The Charlotte Tilbury products are definitely on the pricier side of things, however I genuinely think they are lovely products and worth the money!
Plus the packaging is just beautiful!

Next up are two products by Sara Hill(who, btw, is the director of The Academy of Makeup where I trained).

First of all is the Pink Opal Metallic pigment. This can be used for highlighting the cheekbone, brow bone, inner corner of the eye and cupids bow. And this is a serious highlighter! If you love that intense glow, this ones your gal!
I think it looks particularly nice on a paler skin tone as obviously it has a pinky/iridescent colour to it, but I think it could be beautiful on anyone.
And a little goes a long way!

Another from Sara Hill is the Matte Damon lipstick. I'm not going to lie, I think I have used it on like 90% of my clients so far! It is so beautiful and gives such a beautiful colour to the lips!
It obviously has a matte finish, but it is so comfortable to wear that it doesn't have the usual drying feeling of a matte lipstick.

You should definitely check out Sara's brand, everything is so lovely!

Next is the Laura Mercier Mineral Powders.

I use these to set makeup along with my trusty RCMA no colour powder. This just gives the makeup a gorgeous look, it isn't too matte so the skin still looks really fresh ad doesn't leave it looking powdery at all!  I don't have loads to stay about this product, just that I think it's really lovely and definitely a must have in my kit so far!

Next up is the Urban Decay Chill Spray.

Now, I'm sure you are probably surprised that I have this and not the cult product All nighter spray. But this was recommended by our tutor Lynsey Maxwell at the Academy who uses this in her kit and I've got to say, I really enjoy this.

I'm not going to lie, it has a bit of a weird smell to it, I think due to the different plant based ingredients in it. But it does actually give a lovely cooling sensation, which I think it lovely when someone has been working on your face for nearly an hour!

It sets your makeup, cools you down and hydrates the face at the same time! Can't complain about that!

Last but not least is this little beauty by NYX, the Control Freak brow gel.

This is just a simple product, but I love it! It creates a really great, fluffy brow! This, with just a tiny bit of product to thicken the brows up gives such a great look. I'm definitely one for the more natural look when it comes to your brows, so this really works great to create that look.

So that's it for my favourite pieces in my kit so far!
Together they give a beautiful looking, natural and dewy makeup.

If there is anything else you would like me to talk about or review, please leave a comment and let me know. I would also love to know what you guys love to use-professional makeup artist or if you just love makeup-I would really love to know what you use!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Love,

Hey guys, very long time no see!

I have taken a serious break from my blog, which I must say I am a little bit disappointed with, however I had so much going on in my life and something had to give.

But I am back, and I am determined to seriously give this blogging thing a go again. Mainly because it's actually just a really nice creative outlet to talk about the things I love, the things I'm doing and just life in general. I don't even know how many people will actually read this or enjoy it, but if you do then thank you very much! I would love to ready any comments from people reading this post or any other on my blog. If you've never been on here before, there are a few posts that you may enjoy. Like my recipe for Salted Caramel brownies... It's an older post but I promise it's a goodie!

Anyway, I've been away for so long that I should probably give you an update on my life.

The last time I posted on here was over a year ago which is crazy! I had recently visited Venice with my boyfriend David and I'm pretty sure I had promised to keep going with the blog!
Ooops, I obviously lied about that! My bad!

Well, since then A LOT has gone on!

Firstly, I have become a fully qualified makeup artist which is a dream come true! I have wanted to do this for a long time! In fact, I left university after my third year because I knew this is what I really wanted to do. That was 5 years ago! So it wasn't a decision that was taken lightly. And with a huge thanks to my Dad, I managed to book a place on the Pro-Makeup Course at The Academy of Makeup here in Glasgow, which is run by amazing makeup artist Sara Hill.

Here are all my favourite girls from The Academy!

I'm going to try not to ramble too much on this post, and honestly I should do a separate post about the academy because there is just too much to write here, but just know that I had the most amazing time! Met some crazy amazing Makeup Artists and met quite possibly the best bunch of girls any girl could wish for! But like I've said, I will need to talk about this in a post of its own to be able to do it justice!

Secondly, I made another huge life change and that was to move in with my amazing boyfriend, David.
Now, I do not want to be that mushy girlfriend that only wants to go on and on about her other half, but I think a little bit of mush is ok!

I don't actually have any photos of the flat so here's a cute one of us!

We moved in together in October and we have just recently hit the 6 month mark in our gorgeous flat, and honestly we are having the best time living together. I was definitely a little scared, I have never lived with a boyfriend before and I was moving out of home with my mum, so it was a big step. But honestly, it's been great. Don't get me wrong, at times it has definitely been stressful and it is a big slap in the face from reality when you can no longer spend money on anything you want because now you have a lot of bills to pay!

But for us, I think it's definitely worth it. We've grown so much as a couple and I think I've grown as a person. I can see me rambling on with this too... I think this may also need to be a seperate post!

Thirdly, I left my comfort zone and left my job working in a bar that I had been in for 4 years to move to a 9 to 5 job in a bank.
I wanted to have 9 to 5 job as I've never worked one and I thought that it may help me get into makeup, as I'd have better working hours.
And it did do that, but not quite in the way I expected!

I'm not going to lie, I absolutely despised that job!
Don't get me wrong, there were good points to it, but the bad did outweigh them! It was a call centre job, working with the corporate side of the bank, which I knew I wouldn't love but hey, it's 9 to 5 and it pays regular money... Could be worse!

I'm not going to go into great detail about the job and why I hated it as much as I did. I'm sure if you've ever worked in call centre you will understand. Just know that it really wasn't for me and I take my hat off to anyone that can stick it out!
I hated it, every night I would come home and I would cry. Or i would just sit, mind numbed by the day, totally drained by everything that I had done that day and I just couldn't take it.

That's when I took the huge decision to leave, which brings me on to my fourth big bit of news.

I have started my own business as a makeup artist!!!

It's very scary and very stressful and I'm probably going to be quite skint for a while, but I know it will be worth it.
I decided to take the leap with the help of David, who has really been such a rock through all of this, and my amazing family! Especially my Dad. We had a big discussion about my job at the bank and how much I hated it and he made me see that life is too short to be that miserable in it!

So, with a lot of help, I decided to do it! I've only been talking about it for 5, nearly 6 years!

I'm only one full week into it properly, but it's already been an experience!
I currently have a spot in a salon in the centre of Glasgow called 'Hair in the City', where I work in a little makeup room just off the salon and I've already had my first few clients, which is really exciting!

I'm also looking into doing bridal work, editorial and commercial work which I think will be amazing!

It has been quite stressful getting everything set up and getting my kit started and figure out websites and social media, but it is really exciting and I have an amazing opportunity to do what I love for the rest of my life. If you want to take a look my instagram is @kayleighrosemakeup
So hopefully a lot of hard work and determination will get me there!

I thought it might be quite fun to blog about my experience along the way,.
I don't know if it will help anyone who wishes to become a makeup artist themselves, but it's a kind of insight into how things work and you'll be learning with me as I go along!

Some work from a Photoshoot with amazing brand Electro Rebel

I will try to post an update with it all as regularly as I can(I'm going to pray my next post wont be a year away as I'm actually very determined this time!), and I want to let you all know what I have in my kit, what I love and how I get on as I try to make my way into this crazy business.
So stay tuned!

Sorry if this post has been ridiculously long and perhaps even boring for some people, but I felt I couldn't just randomly post something when it had been over a year. And I guess this is kind of like a diary for me, so it will be good to look back on and see where I am in the future.

So, if you've stuck around until the end, I thank you very much and I hope you'll keep up with the blog and what I'm up to!

If there is anything you'd like me to discuss, please leave a comment and let me know!

Love,

Hi guys!
As you can probably tell by the title of this blog post, I'm going to be talking about the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette and one of my favourite looks to create using it.

This week I'm going to do a look using the more matte colours in the palette(there is a teeny tiny bit of glitter when you look at it but they look matte on the eye), and this is pretty much my go-to look at the moment.

For a day-to-day look I've been using the same colours, but usually just toning it down a little bit. I've actually been loving a matte eye, as I usually tend to go for shimmery colours, but recently I've just felt that the matte look appears slightly more polished.

I really love this palette, in fact, it was actually in my February Favourites recently. I haven't used any other eyeshadows since the day I got it in the post. It was love at first sight! I just find that you get a really great payoff and they blend really well.

I have already applied my foundation and my eyebrows, just as I have used my usual Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation on my face, applied with a beauty sponge and on my eyebrows I have Soap and Glory Archery Brow Tint and Pencil(please ignore my extremely overgrown eyebrows, they are deliberately like that-I'm trying to thicken them up a bit so I've not had them threaded in a while so please try to see past it!). Also, please excuse the lighting- I use only natural light at my bedroom window, which(especially in Scotland) can be slightly unpredictable, so the lighting is a bit different in some of the pictures-apologies!

I started off by priming my eyelids with the Zoeva Pearl Eyeshadow Fix and then taking the colour "Bitter Start" all over the eyelid to set the primer just using a bigger shadow brush to take that all over.

Once I have applied my all over base colour, I then take the colour "Substitute for Love"-which is a slightly warm, light brown- on a soft fluffy brush, along the crease of my eyelid and just blend that right in, staying at and above the crease, rather than moving on to the eyelid itself. I'm using this as my transition shade, so I need this to be a bit closer to the brow bone than the rest of the colours that I'm going to use. I like to make sure that is as blended out as possible.

After I have blended this in, I then take "Freshly Toasted"-which is a much warmer, burnt orange/red tone- on the same fluffy brush and blend that along the crease, started from the outer corner and blending in the way. I don't take this colour as far along as the transition shade as I just want to deepen the colour towards the outer corners of the eye, so I probably bring this shade to the center of the crease. Once I have applied the colour and blended it in, I then take another clean fluffy brush and just blend the two colours in even more, I like to do this because I like the colours to flow into each other, rather than being in blocks.

Once I have these two colours on, I then go in with my darkest shade for the look "Beans are White" to smoke the look out a little bit. I take a base shadow brush and just apply this colour to the outer corners of my eyes. Once I've done this, I take me second fluffy brush and just blend this colour in towards the eye and in with the more red toned shadows. I tend to apply this really lightly and build up to the colour that I want, I think this makes the look a lot softer and more wearable. Like I said, I prefer everything to be really blended, I'm not a fan of blocking on colours. At this point I think you can just really play around with intensity of the colour

Once I have the look as dark as I would like, I ass on a little liquid liner. I find that felt tip liners are definitely the easiest to use. I like the Liner Feutre by Bourjois, I find that it easily gives you that thick, dramatic line, without being messy at all. I start from the bottom of the outside corner of my eye and pull the line up as far as I would like it to go. I then start from the end of that line and drag the liner down towards the centre of my eye. I then fill in any gaps and sort out any unevenness.

Please excuse the close up of those ridiculously thick brows!

Once I have my eyeliner done, I leave my eyes for now and move on to finishing my face. I use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer under my eyes, down the centre of my nose and just in the space between the jawline and the bottom of the cheek bone as a sort of mini-contour. I like to let this concealer sit for about 30seconds before I blend it in, I just think it sets a lot better and gives a better coverage. I like to use a blending sponge, usually the same one that I use for my foundation and push the concealer into the skin, just to give that extra coverage.

Once I have the concealer blended in, I set it with my RCMA No Colour Powder and then take my Urban Decay Beached Bronzer all over my face and then concentrate it more in the hollow of my cheeks, just to give a bit more definition to the cheekbones. Then using the Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher in Rode D'Or across the apple of the cheeks and blend that together with my bronzer, just to pull everything together and make sure there are no harsh lines.

After the complexion is finished and all blended together, I go back to the eyes and finish them off. I take the colour "Freshly Toasted" again, which I already used in the crease, on a pencil brush and just blend that along the lower lash line.

Now I just stick on a few coats of Maybelline Lash Sensational on my upper and lower lashes(I do take about 5 minutes to do my mascara) and that is the eye makeup done. I have then added some Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss Nude Collection, mixing the colours 45 and 48 together.

And that is pretty much the look finished. This is what I have been wearing everyday and on most nights out. If I'm wearing it during the day, I usually just go a bit easier on the outer corner of the eye and lighten it up a bit.

I really enjoy wearing this look and I get loads of compliments on my eye makeup when I do wear it, which is always nice! It's a really easy look to wear as it's pretty neutral and goes with everything, which is why I think I love it so much.

Thank you so much for getting to the end if you're reading this! You're the best! If you like this look and you gave it a try please let me know! Also if you have any questions about it, please leave a comment and I will get back to you!

I'm really impressed with the quality of these eyeshadows, especially for the cost of them, They are so blendable and almost creamy, with a really great pay-off. I would really recommend them if you are looking to build up your eyeshadow collections, this would be a great place to start!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything, I promise I will be getting back into it now! I will speak to you all very soon! I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi Guys!
I'm back again with a little "outfit of the day/face of the day" post!
I thought since I had sucked at blogging for the last 3/4 months I should start trying to get more posts up to make up for it!

Today's look is a pretty casual one, but I'm just having one of those laid back, life sorting days off work, so I was pretty chilled with my outfit choice. I don't have much to do apart from running errands and just being a boring old adult!

I love this look, I think this is one of those outfits that's pretty casual yet, doesn't look like you've just rolled out of bed and made no effort at all. It's pretty much my go-to outfit choice on my days off.
I've tucked my t-shirt into my high waisted Joni jeans. The t-shirt(because you can't see in the photographs) is just a basic tee but it has embellished edges at the arms, which I think just gives it a slightly dressier feel. I tucked the t-shirt in just because it actually has slits up the side(which for the life of me, I cannot understand why this has become a thing), and its the only thing I don't like about it, so tucking it in just solves that little issue! It is a very Spring-like day today but it's still chilly out there which is why I stuck on my scarf before I left. Ive rolled up the legs of my jeans a little and just paired them with my favourite/comfiest trainers.

What I'm wearing

Pieces Denim Jacket from ASOS

White Puma Trainers

Topshop Tall Joni Jeans

Kate Spade NY Handbag
(the closest I could find to my own)

T-shirt from Primark(They don't have an online store)

I've also done a few close ups of my makeup because this is what I wear on a day-to-day basis. Again, like the outfit, it's a pretty casual/natural look. I like to wear this kind of look because I don't want to look overdone when I'm just doing a food shop or going to the bank, but I also don't want to look like a troll with nothing on my face! You never know who you might run in to! So I just stick with pretty neutral colours for everything with just a little flick of liquid liner, some shimmery pinks along the crease of my eyelid and a few coats of mascara. I also like to nourish my lips in the cold weather so I just have some Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream(my all time favourite beauty product) and nothing else on my lips.

To my hair I just added a few curls randomly and some salt spray to save myself from my embarrassing bed hair! It's still a pretty relaxed look but just not as tragic as it was when I woke up!

On My Face I'm Wearing

Vichy Dermablend Foundation

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

RCMA No Colour Powder

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher

Rimmel Bronzer

Makeup Revolution Salvation Eyeshadow Palette

Bourjois Liner Feutre

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Elizabeth Arden 8-Hour Cream

I hope everyone has a lovely day, and a lovely week for that matter!
I hope you enjoyed this random OOTD/FOTD post, I actually enjoyed doing something a little bit different. And I'm going to try to really stick to the regular blogging thing! I really have missed it so much, so I'll need to start thinking of lots of fun things to do!

Thank you so much for stopping by, let me know if you enjoyed this kind of post!
See you all very soon!

Hi guys!

I'm back! I haven't blogged in SO LONG and I've missed it so much!
I don't know what happened, but I got totally out of the swing of it and then couldn't find the time to do anything.
But I missed blogging so much that I don't want to be doing that again!

Anyway, enough with the babbling... I can't believe that it's March already!
This year is flying by so fast! It's crazy!

I have quite a few favourites this month, I've recently been going a bit crazy, buying so much makeup and spending money like I'm a millionaire, but it's totally worth it!

I have linked all of my favourites so you can find them online, just click on the names of each one!

First up this month is probably one of my top favourites. It's the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette.

I loooove this bad boy! It is so beautiful, really well pigmented and the colours are just so lovely!

I haven't used anything else all month, it's just so gorgeous! It's a warm toned palette with a few matte colours along with some stunning shimmers. It just feels so soft and creamy, really blendable. I just can't get enough of it, I'm so impressed with this palette and it is so affordable. It's only £15.50 from beautybay.com which for the quality of the product is actually unbelievable. Honestly I cannot recommend this product enough!

Next up, which actually goes really well with the Cocoa Blend Palette, is the Zoeva Eyeshadow Fix.

I actually bought the Pearl version of this, but I can't seem to find that in stock anywhere. I've never really been in to primers, never really understood the point, I've now obviously changed that view and I really like this product. It stops my shadows from creasing, gives me a much longer wear out of them and I also finds that it brings out the pigment better in comparison to not using a primer.

Again, this is so reasonably priced that I would definitely recommend giving it a try, it only cost me £6! I usually have my makeup on during a working day for about 14 hours and this stuff  doesn't let my eye makeup budge!

Next thing that I have been absolutely loving the RCMA No Colour Powder, which is slowly but surely blowing up big time.

I had never heard of it before and then all of a sudden I'm seeing it everywhere. I first heard about it whilst watching a Kathleen Lights YouTube video and waited a good while for it to come back in stock but it was totally worth the wait! I really love this product, it's no frills, does exactly what it says on the tin kind of makeup and I think that's really the best thing about it  because it's all about the product and the product is pretty damn good! This powder genuinely has no colour, which is great because it means it just sets your makeup without adding anything else to it or without altering the colour.  It also means that any colour of skin tone can use this product, which I think is amazing. It sets my makeup and keeps it in place all day and it sets my under eye concealer perfectly! It's the only powder that I've found so far that minimises the creasing under my eyes. It's also SO reasonably priced! I bought the 3oz bottle and that cost me £8.95 and I can totally deal with that in my life! It's worth 3 times that price in my opinion! If you can get your hands on it, I would totally recommend it!

Next is another extreeeemely reasonably priced product. It's the Makeup Revolution "What are you waiting for?" Salvation Eyeshadow Palette.

I am slowly falling in love with this brand, this palette only cost £4 from Superdrug, and for the price, I think it is really, really good! Obviously it is never going to be as amazing as the higher end eyeshadows because you do pay for a better product.

However, I wouldn't say that these eyeshadows are only worth £4, I think they are really pretty darn snazzy! This is the second palette that I have bought from this range and I have loved them both. There are some really beautiful pinky/Champagne colours that are just so beautiful if you want a change from a smoky eye or are just looking for a fresher makeup look. The shimmer in them is great and I used this a lot at the start of the month and it was just a really nice, subtle eye look that I could create and I loved it. There are also some really dark, plum toned colours which would be fantastic for brown eyes to really bring out their colour. I think this brand is great for anyone but really great for people that perhaps can't afford to spend a lot on makeup. It shows that the high street brands have really stepped up their game and this brand is extremely affordable, I can't wait to try out more! It's keeping my makeup obsession at a reasonably guilt-free level-winning!

My last makeup favourite has only been in my life for about a week, but I am already obsessed with it! It's the L'Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist, which you use after you've put your makeup on to set it.

Now, just like primers, I've always doubted fixing mists and setting sprays because I thought they were just a novelty type product. Boy was I wrong. I am obsessed with this, honestly, I cannot believe it has taken me this long to see the error of my ways! I can't go a day without this now. It sets my makeup so well, without altering the look of it in any way! And it's really been put to the test as I usually work for about 8-10 hours at least a day, running around serving people and I've had my makeup on for maybe 14 hours and its still perfect all those hours later, when usually my foundation has started to wear off. It keeps my oily skin reigned in too! I would say though, that I've learned the hard way, use it BEFORE you put on your mascara if you don't want to look like a panda. I mean, pandas are super cute, but I don't want to look like one! So I do everything but my mascara, then I spray my face all over, leave it to dry in, the put my mascara on and its perfect! Honestly, I can't get enough of it, go buy it now, it's only £7.99!

Moving on from makeup and onto hair. I recently had my hair cut suuuper short(for me anyway)- into long bob(or "lob" if you will), and I have a kind of natural wave to my hair but it needs a little help to look the way I want it to. So I bought the V05 Give Me Texture Salt Spray(which I actually bought from Superdrug but Asda was cheaper), just to see if it would give me the texture I was looking for, and I really like it!

I am a bit wary of salt sprays because I've had a few disasters in my youth with them-but then who doesn't have bad beauty moments ya know?! But I've learned from my mistakes and don't use a whole bottle at a time, it definitely needs to be used sparingly! I just spray it on to my towel dried hair(after my serum), and them let it dry naturally to about 80% dry, then I blast it with my hair dryer to give me a little bit of volume. I now can't go a hair washing day without it, it just gives me the exact look that I want, perfect for shorter hair(maybe long if your hair is in a good condition, it can be very drying).
It also smells reeeallly nice and fresh, which I love because sometimes I use it on my dry hair just after I've curled it to give my hair a more relaxed/beachy look to it and it really freshens my hair up and gives it a nice clean scent, which is always nice!

My last February Favourite has to be the YouTuber Kathleen Lights. I only just discovered her a few months ago and I think she is amazing!

She has actually inspired quite a few purchases over the past couple of months and I love her for it! I just think she seems really lovely, down to earth and I can easily watch four or five of her videos at a time and not get sick of her(which is a true sign of love for me).

I think her sense of of humour is just really similar to my own and we have very similar tastes in makeup so I just enjoy watching her videos, plus she is very honest about things she likes and dislikes so you can trust her which I think is really important. Also, I can't stop looking at her flawless skin!

I just think she is an amazingly beautiful looking woman and I cannot get enough of her videos! So glad I came across her one day! Go subscribe to her if you love makeup!

Well, that's everything that I was really loving throughout February. There were a few other things, but I didn't want to make this list too long, so I just put in the best of a great bunch!
Did you have any of these favourites on your list this month? Please let me know what things you have been loving, I always want to try out new products, YouTubers, tv shows, movies, anything you love!

I'm wishing everyone the best March ever! I hope it is full of all sorts of fun things for you all!

Love,
